Books 4

Valentin Rekunenko

The books that help you most
are those which make you think that most.
The hardest way of learning is
that of easy reading;
but a great book that comes from a great thinker
is a ship of thought,
deep freighted with truth and beauty.
Pablo Neruda

The best moments in reading are when you come across something –
a thought, a feeling, a way of looking at things –
which you had thought special and particular to you.
And now, here it is, set down by someone else,
a person you have never met,
someone even who is long dead.
And it is as if a hand has come out,
and taken yours.
Alan Bennett

A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone,
if it is to keep its edge.
George R.R. Martin

You don’t have to burn books to destroy a culture.
Just get people to stop reading them.
Ray Bradbury

  1. “I still love the bookness of books, the smell of books: I am a book fetishist- books to me are the coolest and sexiest and most wonderful things there are”~ Neil Gaiman

  2. When the batteries are dead and the chargers broke or the internet is down or there’s no electricity… I would rather have a real book that you can touch and break open and read by candle light…
